Cryogenic Processing to
Increase Blade Performance
You can now improve performance and increase the life of metal cutting tools,
blades, punches, dies, slitters, shears and knives through cryogenic processing
— at 300 degrees below zero. Cryo-processing increases abrasive wear resistance,
raises the tensile strength and decreases brittleness in one permanent
treatment. It creates a denser molecular structure and closes the grains
structure, resulting in a larger contact surface area that reduces friction,
heat and wear. Cryogenic treatment changes the entire structure, not just the
surface. Subsequent refinishing or regrinding operations don’t affect the
permanent improvements of the processing. When the cryo-treated tool does wear,
the degree of wear reportedly is less severe, slower and more uniform.
Therefore, less material must be removed to re-sharpen it. For more information

Komatsu’s New PC300LL-7 Forestry Machine
In January, Komatsu America Corp. introduced the PC300LL-7, its first Dash 7
purpose-built forestry machine. It features two new forestry track frame
options
— High/Wide and standard clearance — and “woods-tough” guarding and cab/riser
packages. To increase durability and performance it incorporated swing and
track components from the next-larger-size-class excavator. The PC300LL-7
operates at 242 HP with a swing torque of 96,503 ft/lbs. for log loading (both
heel-type and butt-n-top methods), shovel logging and road building
applications. The PC300LL-7 can be configured to meet two applications — Log
Loader and Roadbuilder — offering more flexibility. And it features the
company’s patented, load-sensing HydrauMind hydraulic system that
automatically adjusts machine operation to compensate for the given
application. For more information on this purpose-built forestry machine,
please contact your local distributor or call Komatsu at (866) 513-5778, or

Rayco Forestry Mower, C87FM
Rayco Manufacturing, Inc. has enhanced its C87FM compact crawler forestry mower.
It now has a more powerful 4cylinder 87 hp Deutz turbo diesel engine, coupled to
a 41 gpm hydrostatic transmission delivering up to 6000 psi to the mowing head.
Still standard is the air-conditioned cab, sliding side windows, and pilot
controlled joysticks. For more information visit

The New Timberline DL3800
The DL3800 uses Timber-line’s blending of horsepower and hydraulic output
to
achieve high production delimbing. It incorporates a side discharge chute for
the added advantage of short wood delimbing as well as longwood decking. DL3800
also features Timberline’s internal hose reel for smoother, more efficient boom
motion. The internal hose reel eliminates the external cables and hoses found on
some competitive models. The DL3800 has the power to handle hardwood jobs at top
speed. Optional feed rollers produce speeds that rival processor heads while
delivering steady production and purpose-built reliability. The DL3800 comes
standard with a 215 HP, or an optional 240 HP Cummins diesel engine. For more
information, contact your nearest Timberline dealer or visit them online at
www.timberlineequipment.com.

a patented 3-cylinder tilt mechanism with simultaneous tilting forward and
side-to-side. The machines feature a rugged undercarriage. Proven final drives
and travel motors provide up to 82,940 lbs. of drawbar pull, with up to 35” of
ground clearance. The machines have a 500-hour oil change interval to reduce
maintenance costs and improve productivity. The zero tail swing machines are
designed to perform in tight areas for select cut and thinning applications.
