Deming Log SHOW

The
Deming Log Show is no ordinary logging show. From its inception to goal has been
to raise money for injured loggers in Whatcom County. So when it gets a big
turnout, like this year’s show held June 4 and 5, it’s doubly great — for those
enjoying the festivities as well as the families of healing loggers. The 2005
Deming Log Show had special meaning for President Ryan Lenssen. He was hurt this
year, and some of the proceeds have gone toward his lengthy recovery.
It was a highlight of the show when he was
presented, along with his wife Wendy, with the Golden Ax award. “He’s our
youngest president and he’s our first president to be president four years. He’s
put in a lot of hard work and he’s just a heck of a guy,” says Shelly DeBruin.
Shelly, an officer in the ladies auxiliary, says that the show gets in your
blood. “My parents were there the first year, in the BBQ area. They started
bringing me down when I was two. The show has helped my grandfather and a couple
of my uncles. It’s a good thing we do here.”
Next year’s show will be held on June 3 and 4.
If you come on down to Deming, Washington, you’ll not only enjoy viewing
machinery, logger events and some good food, you’ll be helping out your fellow
logger as well.
