AFM-Forest Ltd
The AFM 60 L is an effective larger head for wheeled-base machines. It is
a
reliable
choice for tough work with a maximum grapple opening of 650 mm, felling
diameter of 700 mm and cutting diameter of 600 mm. The AFM 60 L provides
good capacity and power for bigger final clear cuttings. Because of
compact design, it is light enough to be well movable inside later
thinning. The head is equipped with one pair of delimbing knives and
non-sliding three-roller feeding, which provides a high quality output and
ease of handling with even the worst quality trees. As a carrier, 12-17
ton forest machines are recommended.

The new QC1400 hot saw feller buncher model from Davco Manufacturing Ltd,
a
division
of Barda Equipment, features an all new patent-pending, multi-tree cutting
layout that decreases cycle times compared to single tree cutting systems.
Designed for use with various carriers, the QC1400 has a cutting capacity
of from 6” to 16” and has a 42” diameter saw disc. Overall attachment
dimensions are 48” wide by 78” tall. It requires a hydraulic flow of 30 to
38 gpm and 3,300 psi. The high-speed disc saw has a 1-5/8” kerf. Other
features include rotatable square teeth and a universal quick attach

Fabtek Corp (A Blount Company) builds both fixed and dangle-style heads.
The fixed style FT18R four-roller design suits loggers harvesting in a
range of operational styles from select cut hardwood to multiple stem
first thinning of pine plantations. This head has a 24" cutting capacity.
Features include multiple encoder measurement sensors, a standard auto
chain tensioning system and simplified piston oiler, as well as an

GN Roy
Two circular saw head models are
available from GN Roy, the
2456-B
and the 2252-C. The 2456-B has a greater cut depth of 24” through a 40”
opening, a greater holding capacity of 5.06 square ft and 280 degree tilt
(with planetary gear). The planetary gear is built with a holding bearing
that is completely separate from the planetary and supports the head’s
weight. With an operating pressure of 2,800 lbs, the 6,400-lb head has a
saw blade 56” in diameter. The 2252-C offers great access to the saw
motor, easy access to arms, accumulator cylinders and the hydraulic
system, a 22” cut depth and a holding capacity of 4.28 square feet. The
clamp design makes classification of wood easier, the company says. Seals
are made of polymyte and are resistant to heat, cold and high pressure.

roller heads include the 30RH, the 30RHS, the 25RH, the 22RH, and the 20RH
Foresteri models. With cut diameters ranging from 250 mm to 500 mm, the
heads offer delimbing speeds of four to five mps and maximum sawing
diameter ranging from 450 mm to 750 mm. The machines weigh between 570 kg
to 1,400 kg. The two stroke heads include the 1,060-lb Patu 410SH and the
1,760-lb 560SH, with sawing diameters of 18” and 23.5” respectively and

Quadco's harvester/processor head line-up includes the following three
series: First, the controlled fall Ultimate Series, available in 22" cut
(5600) and 24" cut (5660). The Ultimate fits 22t class excavators or
feller bunchers. The accumulator
arms,
and solid mount are designed for CTL/TL harvesting as well as for roadside
processing. The new 5660 swing saw, the same as that used on the 6000
harvester and the 2400 intermittent felling head, puts out 147 hp at the
saw, a 63% increase over the 5600 saw. Second, the Heavyduty Series,
available in 24" cut (6000) and 30" cut (7500). The 6000 and 7500 feature
modular construction with three boom mounts (dangle, controlled-dangle or
solid) and two butt saws (disc or bar & chain) to choose from. The
self-adjusting, proportional-pressure soft clamp system, based on tree
diameter, minimizes friction and maximizes feed speed, the company says.
Other features include a twin-motor rotator with a 100,000-lb capacity
sealed bearing and standard bottom delimbing arms. The 7500 has two-speed
motors for high torque in heavy delimbing and high speed in lighter
conditions. Third, the L240 Processor, a new 24" dangle head designed from
the ground up as a processor by the Levesque Brothers, the inventors of
the original Target Processor. The attachment which weighs in at around
7,000 lbs offers an impressive 9,750 lbs of feed force. It is simpler to
service than anything on the market today. It features an adjustable butt
saw for greater CTL productivity. It is ideally fitted to 25t+ carriers.

Rotobec
The Rotobec RSG-250B single-grip harvesting head has a felling and
delimbing capacity of 25”. Component locations have been chosen to
facilitate maintenance and minimize hose movement. Components, including
hoses and wires, are tidy and well-protected, the company says. The
RSG-250B is the only harvesting head in its class to offer a continuous
rotator—the R-6500—that considerably reduces potential damage to hose and
wires and related downtime, the company says. Installation of the RSG-250B
requires only three hydraulic lines and a four-wire electrical cable on
the boom. All valves are located directly on the harvesting head. Chain
saw oil is used to lubricate the blade and chain. A small oil reservoir is
located on the head. The RSG-250B comes with the Motomit computer and
offers length, diameter and volume measuring. It can be installed on
nearly any track or wheel carrier with a minimum of 130 hp.

The new 5702 felling saw from Tigercat Industries Inc is available for
drive-to-tree and track feller bunchers. The single-post saw head features
an asymmetrical
butt
plate and horn design that enables it to centre and control large diameter
trees and bunch smaller stems in parallel alignment. Built for extreme
duty and offering a cutting capacity of 23”, the 5702 has arm pivot pins
that are 2.5” in diameter with threaded ends. The Tigercat-built cylinders
are cushioned at both ends for extended life. The Tigercat 5400 felling
saw head for track feller bunchers is also a single-post felling saw with
asymmetrical geometry and an offset pocket, resulting in better stem
alignment in small diameter wood and versatility for varying timber sizes.
Twin grab arms offer improved collecting, sorting and control of large
trees, while the single accumulating arm provides increased bunching
efficiency. The 5702 and the 5400 are available with three wrist options
(30°, 110° and 140°). All wrists use annular ball bearings and heavy-duty
construction. With a 21.5” cut capacity, the 5400 is designed and
constructed for long life with large diameter pins and bushings and
cushioned cylinders. Tigercat’s 650 harvesting head for wheeled and
tracked harvesters offers efficient hydraulics for optimal fuel efficiency
and a cut capacity of 26”. The DASA computer system provides tight
measuring tolerances and excellent control. Angled rollers provide

Waratah
Waratah’s HTH hydraulic tree harvesters handle all types of harvesting
applications and are available in the 600, 400 and 200 series. The 600
series heads have either a 0.404” SuperCut saw unit—featuring automatic
chain tensioning with an electric pulse oiler for greater bar and chain
life—or a durable 3/4” pitch 11H chain on the larger heads. The standard
topping saw allows clean processing of forked trees, broken tops and
defect for highest fibre yield. A saw home detector stops feed rollers
during cutting and the bar saver indicator light allows the operator to
know where the saw is when the saw bar is out of sight. The heads feature
the Waratah’s Logrite and T10 measuring and control systems. The HTH622B,
for 20 to 25 ton carrier classes is the latest addition to Waratah's line
of 600 Series of harvester/processors. The 622B offers an number of
improvements over the earlier HTH622. Weighing in at 4673 lbs, the 622B is
600 lb lighter than the previous model. This weight reduction was
accomplished by elimination of the bottom delimb section and a topping saw
that is integrated into a shorter 622B frame. The main sawbox
configuration has been modified to allow for a lower stump height, up to a
35.5" bar and a Hultdins S100 saw unit that is not only faster but has no
external hose routing. In addition, grab arms open 3-1/2" wider to allow
the head to easily process up to 24" stems. Other modifications include
cleaner hose routing throughout and synchrodrive three-wheel feed system
that increases traction and speed. In the 200 series, the versatile, fixed
rotation HTH 245 features two-speed feed motors for fast delimbing of
smaller stems, while the HTH 260 features a 25.6” cutting capacity. With a
maximum cutting capacity of 25.6”, the HTH 470 has the feeding power of
constant four-wheel drive and two moving and two fixed hydraulically
serial-connected feed rollers. The HTH 450—with a maximum cut capacity of
22”—is a lightweight all purpose head for thinning and regeneration
harvesting. Waratah’s FS series includes high accumulation, disc saw
felling heads for swing-to-tree feller bunchers. With a cut capacity of
22”, the FS20 increases productivity in small diameter wood and has an
enlarged accumulator pocket, while the FS22 has a front discharge system.

Madill
Madill incorporates a number of unique features into it’s new 25” cutting
diameter

saw. This head is specifically matched to Madill feller bunchers, but can
also be purchased separately. The fully enclosed, 365-degree wrist employs
two hydraulic motors coupled to planetary gearboxes for the extremely high
torque needed with tall and heavy West Coast wood. Madill’s felling head
has two grab arms and two accumulating arms, and internally mounted valves
in order to reduce hose connections from nine to four. With boom adapter
it weighs in at 8,000 lbs. Madill has also included a number of safety
improvements into the head, including front discharge, a sawblade brake
