Leading Logging Contractors

In our ongoing effort to keep Logging & Sawmilling Journal’s readers informed and up-to-date, we are pleased to present our list of the leading logging contractors for Saskatchewan and Manitoba. Readers will notice a number of new names on the list, particularly in Saskatchewan. This reflects the massive investment in new forestry operations in the province over the past two years. A number of contractors are also harvesting both softwood and hardwood.

This again reflects investment growth, with the recent arrival of new oriented strand board plants established near both the eastern and western borders of the province. Manitoba’s logging community has shown remarkable stability over the years, which in itself is a positive trend, as it shows loggers find it worthwhile to invest and commit to the industry. A number of logging companies have created joint ventures with other loggers to take advantage of new contracts as they come up. Most are engaged in cut-to-length logging. The information presented here was derived from direct contact with the contractors themselves. Participation was entirely voluntary.

In preparing this list, Logging & Sawmilling Journal contacted industry associations, equipment dealers, and sawmills to make the list as accurate a possible. That said, should readers have information that they think should be included in the next list, please contact us. As there is no existing public list of logging contractors for either Saskatchewan or Manitoba, aside from the previous list published in Logging & Sawmilling Journal, their input and assistance was invaluable.
