Fabtek Clam Bunk Forwarder Skids Tree
Length
The new Fabtek FT 546C-CB clam bunk forwarder from Blount Inc is a
tree-length skidder with forwarder capacity. The six-wheel drive machine
features a 28-square-foot clam volume and a 26,000-lb gross
load capacity. The configuration allows the transport of a large number of
bundles with good traction and minimal ground disturbance, offering an
alternative method of skidding long distances and out of wet sites. A low
torque centre of gravity gives the machine a balanced weight-to-load
ratio, even with the weight of the load on the bogie, resulting in maximum
flotation with minimal wheel spin, soil disturbance and rutting. Other
features include self-cleaning bogie tracks, a simplified hydraulic lock
mechanism and a roomy cab with full-view, 360-degree visibility. The FT
546C-CB can be converted from the clam bunk for tree length wood to a
short wood forwarder with rack. Reader Service Card #869
Drying Solutions from Carter2
Systems
The sawdust drying system from Carter2 Systems produces 1,500 lbs of dry
sawdust per hour, using stack gas as the primary heat source, with steam
heat secondary. Working in unison with the kiln boiler, the system removes
moisture from the sawdust to reduce the average moisture content of the
hog fuel and allows targeting of specific moisture content for resale to
pellet manufacturers, particleboard producers and composite wood
extrusions. The unique design of the blend chamber and control system
provides uniform and consistent drying with varying volumes of stack gas,
allowing ambient air to cool excess stack temperatures, while steam heated
ambient air continues the drying when the volume of stack gas is low.
Maximum temperature of entering air is controlled to 400 degrees. Reader

Komatsu Excavator Offers Enhanced
Features
The 306-hp PC450LCD-6 excavator from Komatsu offers an 82-ft maximum work
height, more than 40 feet of horizontal reach and multiple boom positions.
The 118,915-lb machine can stand well away
from the working point, improving operator visibility of the attachment.
The full-length cab roof window has an integrated wiper and wash system
and, when working at eye level, visibility is maintained by using angled
cross members on the front guard. An electronic angle sensor gives the
operator an audible alarm if a potentially unstable operating position is
approached and provides back up for the angle gauge visible through the
cab window. Easy pin removal of the mid-boom section allows working down
to ground level, eliminating the need to have two different machines on
site. Reader Service Card #871
Fecon Offers High Production BA Wood
Hog
With a 40"x62" feed opening, the Fecon BA Wood Hog can process
hefty material such as stumps, large volumes of brush, leaves and grass
and reduce it to a controlled size through a wide range of particle
sizing screens. The high-production, 73,000-lb machine is powered by a
600- or 800-hp Caterpillar engine, with power transferred to the
hammermill through a hydraulically engaged tensioner, fluid clutch and
Keval reinforced powerband V-belts, eliminating a friction clutch. A
single button on the control panel or wireless remote control engages the
hammermill, so operators need not operate a manual clutch. Each of the 24
fixed hammer assemblies or optional 48 swing hammers incorporate an easily
changed, reversible cutting tool. The BA Wood Hog's horizontal grinding
technology reduces fuel consumption as well as labour and
service/maintenance costs, the company says. Reader Service Card #872
Tigercat Expands Track Feller Buncher
Line
The new 822 feller buncher from Tigercat is capable of minimal impact in
pine plantation thinning and other selective cut applications.
A zero tail-swing machine, the 822 offers excellent service access, with a
power-operated retracting roof enclosure with walk-up access to the engine
area. Pumps, valves, filters and heat exchangers are easily accessed
through swing-out doors in the rear of the machine. The hydrostatically
driven cooling fan directs debris away from the front of the machine. With
253 horsepower and tight-tuck boom geometry, the 822 features Tigercat's
new ER boom system that allows the machine operator to extend and retract
the boom on a horizontal plane smoothly and quickly using a single
joystick. The large cab offers excellent right-side and rear visibility.

Parker Introduces Spiral Hoses
The Hose Products Division of Parker Hannifin introduces its 782TC and
782ST spiral hoses, designed for critical applications in the forestry,
construction, mining and agriculture industries. Particularly appropriate
for use in articulating equipment, the SAE 100R13/EN856 Type R13 hoses
match abrasion resistance requirements. The 782TC (tough cover) suits
5,000-psi and 6,500-psi uses, while the 782ST (super tough cover) meets
requirements in extreme abrasion applications, the company says. Both
hoses feature an oil-resistant high-Nitrile inner tube for hydraulic fluid
compatibility and are compatible with Parker's one-piece 78 Series
Monoblok fittings. Reader Service Card #874
Autowraptor Offers Fast Payback
The Autowraptor, a new automated wrapping machine from J Desco Inc,
meets industry quality requirements by eliminating the need for glue,
staples and labour for its operation. The machine uses an expandable and
retractable film, with memory, that moulds around contours perfectly, the
company says. The film is 100 per cent recyclable and the elimination of
staples and labour ensures a fast payback. Reader Service Card #875
