The Caterpillar 980H wheel loader features key changes to improve
productivity,

comfort and serviceability when compared to the 980G Series II, which it
replaces. A new Cat engine with ACERT technology, the addition of
electronic clutch pressure control, and a new cooling system work
together to boost productivity. Increased cab insulation reduces sound,

WSM Delivers Hog Fuel System
to Washington mill
West Salem Machinery (WSM) has delivered a complete hog fuel screening
and hogging system to Nippon Pulp & Paper in Port Angeles, Washington.
The system was fully engineered and manufactured by WSM, including
conveyors, magnetics, WSM 48-9 disc screen, WSM 4048BP wood/bark hog
with pivot case, and support structures with access platforms. The
heavy-duty disc screen provides pre-screening of bark and wood waste,
with oversized material processed through a vertical feed wood/bark hog.
Screened and hogged material is collected on a common discharge conveyor
and transferred to fuel storage.

New tire puncture technology
from Goodyear
The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company has developed what it calls
revolutionary
commercial
tire technology that repairs tire punctures when they occur, greatly
reducing vehicle downtime and service calls. Goodyear’s new DuraSeal
technology features a “built-in sealant” that allows truck drivers to
continue operating after a tire is punctured, and the tire to remain in
service until it is retreaded. The new technology uses a gel-like,
solvent-free compound built into the inner liner of the tire. It is
designed to consistently and instantly seal punctures up to 1/4” in the
tread area. DuraSeal adds only about five to seven pounds per tire, and
provides excellent sealing efficiency from –40 degrees to 100 degrees

BCIT Appoints Associate Dean
BC Institute of Technology’s School of Construction and Environment has
announced the appointment of Barbara Dabrowski, PEng, as associate dean,
Natural Resources. Dabrowski is responsible for the Renewable Resources
technologies programs (Forest Ecosytems and Fish, Wildlife and
Recreation) and the Environmental Engineering Bachelor of Technology
Degree program. Along with this portfolio, she will oversee research
projects undertaken by BCIT’s new Centre for Energy Systems Applications
(CESA). CESA seeks to coordinate existing research programs, training,
lab facilities and expert faculty in integrated building energy systems

Timberjack feller buncher
offers continuous swing rotation
The 759G leveling carrier from Timberjack will change the industry’s
perception of steep slope harvesting, says the company. The unique,
patented leveling system is based on a four-bar linkage mechanism that
actually shifts the upper 91cm (36") forward when leveling from flat to
27 degrees forward. The 608L offers continuous swing rotation with no
swing stops. With separate leveling speed controls for fore to aft and
side-to-side leveling, the operator is in control. A 171 kW (230 hp)
Cummins engine is standard, and the hydraulic system is specially
configured for the factory-fitted Timberjack disc saw head. A
hydraulically operated enclosure provides the best in class service
